Pharmaceutical Facility Air Compressor Heat Exchanger | ||
Objective: The tower had a running battle with algae even though it was being treated with algaecide. The bacterial plate counts were running at 10,000,000/ml. Scaling in the pipes and the air compressors was a problem, with leaks in the cooling tower pump seals starting as early as 4 to 6 weeks after replacement. Results: As the chemicals, which act as nourishment for the bugs, were eliminated, along with the de-scaling that was taking place as the result of the electrostatic water treatment, the bacterial plate count dropped from 10,000,000/ml down to 1,000/ml. Algae had all but disappeared and the tower pump seals stopped leaking. The de-scaling of the inner and after heat exchangers on the Atlas Capco air compressor as a result of the ELECTROchem System after one year without chemicals evidenced increased equipment efficiency and energy conservation. |
