ELECTROchem Electrostatic Treatment Electrode
electrostatic rods

Functional Description
The ELECTROchem Electrostatic Treatment Electrode is a patented, industrial grade assembly that treats water for control of scale in medium to large HVAC and Process systems. Utilizing both Electrostatic and Electrodynamics processes the Electrode not only prevents scale from forming but eliminates existing scale as well. The Electode is invasively mounted in a piping tee, elbow, or side-stream reaction chamber. As a result of being in direct contact with the treated water, the Electrode creates a high voltage, low current positive static field. All water-borne particles passing through the field become negatively surface charged which causes the particles to repel, thus limiting their ability to bond together or attach to surfaces. The net result of this application of elementary physics keeps particles in suspension until removed through conventional blow down and filtering process.

  • Rugged, Industrial-Grade Design
  • 10,000 to 20,000 VDC Field Strength
  • Modular Design
  • Adaptable to Any Size System
  • Patent Proven Technology

Applications (typical)

  • Open Cooling Towers, Chillers
  • Evaporative Towers
  • Heat Exchangers
  • Jacket Cooling: Air Compressors, Mills, Ovens
  • Boilers, Humidifiers
  • Reverse Osmosis / Filters
  • Machine Coolant Systems

Size and Selection
ELECTROchem determines Electrode type, size and quantity according to application and site conitions. In General, Electrodes are selected for type, length and quantity according to the system application and water flow rate in gallons per minute (GPM). Cold type Electrodes are used for water in the 45°F/7.22°C to 120°F/ ranges, such as condenser water systems. Hot type rods are used in the 120°F to 500°F such as boiler makeup water. The nominal configuration in a system is based on water flow rates as shown in the table below.
